On Monday May 7th, 2012, the UN began its Eleventh Session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. Here are some articles to learn more about about this session of the PFII and the issues that are being confronted.

“US should return stolen land to Indian tribes, says United Nations” , article by Chris McGreal at the Guardian. May 4, 2012. reporting on a study done by Special Rapporteur on Indigenous Issues, James Anaya on the treatment of the US’s Native Americans.

Background: The Doctrine of Discovery a short background paper by the Permanent Forum on the theme for the 11th session: “The doctrine of discovery: its enduring impact on indigenous peoples and the right to redress for past conquests”.
