The Loretto Community has been active at the United Nations in many ways for almost three decades. Much of this work is done in collaboration with other NGOs (non-governmental organizations) made up of organizations like ours who are interested in advocating for climate justice, immigration reform and the empowerment of girls and women.

Loretto participates on the following committees and working groups:

Additionally, Loretto at the United Nations brings a delegation to the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) each year. This delegation typically consists of high school students from Loretto-affiliated high schools, Loretto Volunteers, Sisters of Loretto and Co-Members of Loretto. We develop programming and curriculum to prepare our delegates to participate in CSW side events and parallel events. Visiting the United Nations through our CSW program enables participants to learn and experience global citizenship, advocacy, the history of the United Nations and the movement towards gender equity for all.
